About the Stoneware

The stoneware comes to us from the Ceramika Artystyczna (Artistic Ceramics) factory in the small town of Boleslawiec (Bowl-e-swa-vee-etz) in the Silesian region of southwestern Poland.  The stoneware dates back to the 1800’s when farmers of the region created decorations based on the “eyespot” pattern of the peacock feather.  The award winning artisans of the Ceramika Artystyczna factory have taken the traditional “eyespot” pattern and transformed the hand-painted stoneware designs of today into true works of art.

Creation of the Stoneware

  • Produced from dense white clay exclusive to the Silesian region.  All of the pieces are cast from molds.
  • Designs are cut by hand from dried natural sea sponge, extracted from the Mediterranean Sea, and applied with a stamping process to create the intricate patterns on each piece.  Complementing the sea sponge patterns are brush stroke applications, which create a design combination unique to Polish stoneware.
  • High-fired in gas ovens at 2000° F creating a high density, extremely durable stoneware for everyday use.
  • Painted and completely glazed with lead-free and cadmium-free materials.
  • Each piece of our exclusive Signature stoneware is completely hand painted and signed on the back by the artist, making it a unique work of art.

Use of the Stoneware

  • The stoneware is oven, microwave and dishwasher safe.
  • It can be used for baking roasts, casseroles, pies & desserts – and you can take the stoneware right from the oven to your table and enjoy the beauty as you serve from the piece.
  • Best to bring to room temperature before placing in the oven or microwave, after removing it from the refrigerator.
  • FDA approved for food preparation and storage.
  • Display the stoneware throughout your home, for it is truly a work of art.
